Abstract

Indonesia is a country that has a high level of vulnerability to natural disasters.  One of the cities in Indonesia which is included in the category of disaster-prone cities is Lumajang city, which can be seen from its geographical characteristics which are surrounded by three mountains, namely Mount Semeru, Mount Bromo and Mount Lamongan.  One type of natural disaster that hit the city of Lumajang was the eruption of Mount Semeru.  Disaster mitigation efforts are still relatively weak because of the many casualties, property losses, and deaths.  The application of disaster risk reduction can be applied in the field of education with the aim of creating a generation that is ready to face disasters.  This research aims to increase students' knowledge about disaster mitigation through disaster mitigation educational activities to create students who are prepared when a disaster occurs.  This research is a form of community service through educational activities with a qualitative approach.  In this community service activity, the method used in research is Participatory Action Research (PAR).  The results of the research show that the level of students' knowledge about disaster mitigation must always be carried out.  The solution provided by the researchers is to make socialization in the form of fun learning.  Fun Learning is learning that is designed in such a way that it provides an atmosphere full of joy, fun and most importantly not boring.  Researchers hope that the activities that have been socialized will be used as guidelines when natural disasters occur, namely volcanic eruptions.
